 Francophiles of Australia unites!

-New book reveals the secret of France on our doorstep.

For all French expats missing the delights of a perfect ripe Brie, or Francophiles trying to recapture their last holiday in Paris, a new book reveals the secrets of the French subculture in Australia.

Finding France in Australia is the brainchild of two Australians with a passion for all things French. Always keen to find new ways to feed their Gallic addiction, Sally Matheson and Alison Patience started keeping track of the outlets that sold French food, wine, fashion, décor and more. Wanting to share their discoveries, the pair came up with the idea of writing a directory of French shops, language centres and dining options.

Although nearly 100,000i Australians travelled to France last year, for many of us it’s a long way to go for a perfect saucisson or to stock up on handmade soap from Provence. Fortunately, there are plenty of French expats and Australian Francophiles who have followed their passion and started creating, selling or teaching French things – and now you can find them all in one book,” publisher and co-author Sally Matheson said.

The book covers a broad range of themes, including:

  • Au restaurant - French cafes and restaurants

  • Let’s Cook – food stores, patisseries and specialist cheese

  • From Champagne to Cognac – French wine and wine stores

  • My French Home – décor and design

  • A la mode – fashion and accessories

  • Masterclass – language, cooking, French radio and film.
