Inside you will learn the fundamentals of writing the characters of traditional Japan, borrowed from Chinese (Kanji).

 

Writing Japanese with Ease follows the 99 lessons of Japanese with Ease, presenting the characters in order of appearance throughout the two volumes. The book lists each Kanji with its radical, its number of strokes, the different pronunciations of the character and - of course - its meaning. For development of your writing skills, the stroke-by-stroke character lay-out will be very useful, teaching you the rules of writing Kanji.

Don't miss the useful appendices such as the Table of Radicals, the Index listing Kanji by number of strokes, as well as the dialogue texts of Japanese With Ease, given in standard written Japanese.

If you think learning a foreign language must necessarily rhyme with tiresome work, the first volume of Chinese with Ease is here to show you a different way. This volume of 49 lessons is the first part of a two-volume package: altogether there are 105 lessons in Chinese with Ease. Providing you with Chinese characters and with Pinyin (the official transcription of Chinese characters), it will soon enable you to read and speak Chinese.

As you were told in the first volume, when you have completed your study of Chinese with Ease, you will have reached a good level of Chinese, and command a wide vocabulary for use in all sorts of practical and useful phrases.

You will be in possession of the basic tools of Chinese, as summarized in the appendices at the end of the book. They will be a useful reference if you wish to pursue your learning and discovery of this beautiful language.

Using this book you will learn the fundamentals of Chinese writing – via the study of the 800 most common characters of modern Chinese. Writing Chinese with Ease follows the 105 lessons of Chinese with Ease, presenting the characters in order of appearance throughout the two volumes. However it is not necessary to have used Chinese with Ease in order to study with this book. The explanations given in Writing Chinese with Ease can also be followed by students who did not choose the Assimil method to learn how to speak Chinese.
