Provence, where the Mistral and the Rhone rage and explode as if to escape the valley which confines them. Land of contrasts, from the flat lands of the Camargue where the water and the earth fight for space, to the jagged outline of the barren Alpilles in the far distance. There is the refreshing coolness of the Romanesque cloisters and the imposing stillness of the Gallo-Roman and Medieval monuments; there are also the noisy, colourful markets and the lively afternoon fiestas, creating a natural patchwork of scents and colours around which are staged the dramas and comedies of everyday life-sometimes joyful, sometimes sad, but always spoken from the heart.
