Le pari était de taille : réunir des artistes issus de la scène internationale pour interpréter des adaptations anglaises des chansons de Serge Gainsbourg. Le casting et les différentes versions finalement réunies dépassent les espérances. L’ensemble atteint une énergie et une sensibilité rarement de mise sur le difficile exercice que représente un tribute, même avec des adaptations de textes signées Boris Bergmann…On sera donc forcément heureux de constater que non seulement nombre de classiques de Gainsbourg se mettent toujours aussi bien en bouche mais on sera aussi surpris que la jeune garde pop / rock et quelques uns de ses parrains se les approprient avec autant de pertinence ou d’impertinence. Bienvenue donc chez monsieur Gainsbourg, où le noir, ultime couleur d’un rock glamour et subversif, reste de mise.

Après avoir été aux côtés de Anaïs ou Olivia Ruiz, l’artiste française féminine, Pauline Croze, qui a donné le plus de représentations scéniques sur ces 2 dernières années, nous offre une suite très attendue, à Mise à Nu, succès incontestable (double disque d’or). Elle avait été soutenue par l’ex-Valentins, Edith Fambuena sur le premier album. C’est Jean Lamoot (Noir Désir, Alain Bashung…) qui a coréalisé Un Bruit qui Cour", histoire d’apporter un peu plus d’expérience dans le projet, rendre sa voix moins linéaire. Un résultat concluant à l’écoute du titre donnant le nom à l’album, où elle arrive à nous surprendre par un flow saccadé. Bravo pour la prise de risque ! Openmag

Coralie Clement is a French singer in her early twenties whose whispery voice and world-weary attitude recall Francoise Hardy at the dizzy heights of yeh yeh-dom, Jane Birkin, Keren Anne, Nico, the early Marianne Faithful (although the lyrics to these songs tend to mirror the mature artiste) and lately, Carla Bruni. Very few singers have the restraint to wait three full years between albums -- the less-rocked-out, soft-jazzy Salle Des Pas Perdus constituted her debut -- but it's obvious that the time was well spent. Touring has tightened her phrasing, which still needed work, and uncovered an inexorable womanly tinge that cuts through the determined girlishness of her vocals like a stiletto through a Prada jacket. Her multi-faceted brother, Benjamin Biolay, wrote most of the songs and among other contributions, supplies a host of partly unraveled, garage-scented guitar riffs. But it's Coralie's show all the way and bodes well for the future. --Christina Roden

Chez Rose (Keren), il y a des phrases qui font mouche, telles que : "Qu’importe l’endroit, je suis toujours à l’envers", et la crème des musiciens. Une beau disque donc pour cette jeune niçoise, fan de Bob Dylan et de Janis Joplin, qui nous ballade en douze chansons, sur fond d’harmonica - souvent - ("Saisons", "J’ai"...) mais aussi de notes très jazzy, ambiance piano/bar ("Je m’ennuie", "Rose") dans son univers qui pourrait être le nôtre. Car ce qui frappe chez l’auteuse, c’est la justesse de ses mots et des situations qui les accompagnent. Une espèce de cahier intime d’une jeune femme de 28 ans avec ses joies et ses déceptions. La vie quoi ! On vous l’avait dit. Parfois, elle épingle une partie de la gente féminine ("Sombre con"), ou essaie d’y résoudre leur mystère ("Julien"). Un disque de filles ? Peut-être et pas complètement non plus : les hommes devraient porter une oreille attentive sur les textes de Rose afin de mieux comprendre les femmes... Parmi les morceaux qui nous frappent par leur saisissante mélodie : "La liste" le premier extrait, mais aussi "Ciao Bella" ou "A l’envers" qui feraient d’excellents singles. Alain Souchon ne s’y est pas trompé en l’invitant dernièrement sur ses premières parties à l’Olympia.

 In 2002 Jane went on tour with a new show that was called Arabesque.
 
 Philippe Lerichomme her long time friend and Artistic Director suggested to Jane to work with the Algerian violinist Djamel Benyelles, whose bow made Gainsbourg’s songs quiver to the tune of Arabic interludes. At his side, Jane swayed her hips whilst finding les clés du Paradis, barefoot, draped in a long blood-red dress, surrounded by Aziz Boularouq (percussion), Fred Maggi (piano) and Amel Riahi el Mansouri (lute), Arabesque was a welcome change of scene for an enthusiastic audience, which gave Jane a standing ovation.
 
 Arabesque proved to be a huge success that led to over 200 concerts and a gold record in France and an international tour in over 30 countries.

Unknown to many, former supermodel Carla Bruni came from a musical family (her father being a classical composer and her mother a concert pianist) and she always continued to sing and play music.
