On the 6th of November 2004, Le Forum was opening its door for the first time. 3 years later, we look at some of the signicant achievements.
On the first year:
- Conversation classes start and they are still running every Friday from 5.30 to 6.30pm
- Le Forum has become a distributor for ASSIMIL, the famous self-tuition language packs
- Celebration of Bastille day at JJ's Café
- Organisation of the first 'Lire-en-fete' event. Perth has joined the long list of cities in more than 100 countries.
- Launching Le Forum online shop
- French Soiree at Kulcha for the First anniversary of Le Forum with several artists performing
- Meeting Catherine Rey for her book 'The Spruiker's Tale' and Christine Mathieu for 'Leaving Mother Lake'
On the second year:
- Le Forum becomes a wholesaler for French cultural products
- Opening of our 'Bouquine' Club for readers in French
- Launch of a French program on Radio Fremantle - Rendez-Vous every Tuesday from 6 to 7pm
- Meeting Marie-Paule Leroux for 'La Grenouille dans le Billabong' and Martine Marin for 'la reconnaissance française'
- Lire-en-fête with amongst several events a joint story telling session at the Fremantle public Library
- New distribution agreement with chidren's book publishers Piccolia and Le Sablier
- Partnership with famous publisher L'Ecole des Loisirs
On the third year:
- Distribution of a magazine + CD for learners of French - available on subscription
- Partnership with several bookshops around Australia
- Membership and representation of AILF (Association Internationale des Libraires Francophones)
- Participation to the 1st French Book Fair in Canberra organised by the French Embassy and the Alliance Française de Canberra
- Organisation of events during the 1st edition of French Rendez-Vous in Perth
- Partnership with the Federation of Alliances françaises in Australia
- Lire-en-fête 2007 in partnership with the Alliance francaise de Perth for the 3rd consecutive year
- TOFA (Teachers of French Association - WA)
- NAFT (New South Wales Association of French Teachers)
- Schools in WA and other states
- The network of Alliances Françaises in Australia, especially Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra
